Modern paediatric dentistry increasingly integrates various fields of medicine to diagnose and treat young patients more effectively. At our clinic, we have introduced holistic interdisciplinary consultations for children aged 3 to 12, which combine the knowledge and experience of specialists in orthodontics, dental physiotherapy and speech therapy with respiratory therapy.
A holistic consultation is a comprehensive, multidimensional approach to a child’s health. During a single visit, the child is examined by three specialists:
An orthodontist/paediatric dentist, who assesses the bite, jaw and tooth development,
Dental physiotherapist, who checks muscle tension, posture and temporomandibular joint function,
Speech therapist/breathing coach who analyses tongue function, breathing, swallowing and articulation.
Based on a joint analysis, an individual, comprehensive treatment plan is developed, tailored to the child’s needs.
Many parents are unaware that malocclusion can result from factors such as:
mouth breathing,
incorrect tongue position,
tension in the neck and throat,
habits such as thumb sucking or teeth grinding.
Isolated treatment of one of these problems often does not bring lasting results. Only cooperation between specialists in various fields allows for a complete picture of the situation and the implementation of effective, long-term therapy.
Holistic consultations are ideal for children:
with suspected or confirmed malocclusion,
who breathe through their mouths,
with speech impediments or articulation problems,
with muscle tension disorders in the face, neck and shoulders,
with recurrent upper respiratory tract infections.
It is also an excellent solution for parents who want to consult several specialists in one place and at one time, saving time and energy.
Online preparation – before the visit, parents fill out a medical form, which allows us to better prepare for the consultation.
Orthodontic/paediatric dental assessment – a specialist assesses the development of the bite, teeth and bone structures.
Joint consultation with a speech therapist and dental physiotherapist – assessment of tongue function, breathing, swallowing, muscle tension and body posture.
Development of a treatment plan – within a few days, parents receive an individual treatment plan with recommendations.
Thanks to this process, we can not only diagnose the problem, but also propose effective interdisciplinary therapy – e.g. monthly combined visits to a speech therapist and physiotherapist.
A holistic approach is the future of children’s treatment.
Give your child the best start in life – take care of their bite, speech, posture and breathing comprehensively, in one place, with the help of experienced specialists.
