Cosmetic dentistry
“A good smile is more of an art than a legacy.
It is something that must be built patiently and diligently.”
– Descalzo
Cosmetic dentistry is a comprehensive treatment aimed at improving your smile and overall facial appearance. The ARTIMEDICA Centre specialises in aesthetic prosthetic treatment, implant prosthetics and orthodontics. What sets us apart is our exceptional care to ensure that our patients’ teeth are not only healthy, but also beautiful and remain functional for many years.
Effective and impressive change requires a comprehensive approach to the patient’s expectations and needs, and above all, the knowledge and experience of the medical team. Comprehensive dental care and aesthetic medicine in one is the advantage of ARTIMEDICA.
We guarantee maximum benefits – impressive results, but also complete comfort throughout the entire treatment process. Our showcase is the testimony of many successful patient transformations.
We respect your time.
- We begin treatment with a consultation visit to discuss the patient’s individual expectations.
- In the next step, we examine the patient’s needs in terms of both health and aesthetics – concerning the smile and the entire face.
- Together, we develop a comprehensive, individual treatment plan. We “design” the desired smile and facial appearance, gladly going beyond the scope of standard dental treatment:
- we will give your teeth the desired shape (aesthetic restoration, conservative treatment, prosthetics: veneers, all-ceramic crowns),
- we will fill in gaps in your teeth (implantation and prosthetic procedures),
- change the colour of your teeth (preventive treatments and/or teeth whitening),
- correct the position of your teeth (orthodontic treatment),
- we will take care of removing any imperfections (periodontal plastic surgery; covering recession, eliminating gummy smile and aesthetic medicine procedures).
Correction of tooth shape and position
We follow the principle of “minimum interference with maximum benefit”.
After a detailed analysis of the condition of the teeth and treatment options, in accordance with the patient’s needs and expectations regarding the shape and position of the teeth, we first recommend the least invasive treatment methods:
Cosmetic fillings
First, we try to correct abnormal tooth shape (conical, small, damaged or underdeveloped teeth), diastemas and enamel defects using top-quality composite materials. We replace damaged, leaky or discoloured fillings, selecting the appropriate colour and modelling them in such a way as to give the teeth an aesthetic and natural shape.
Prosthetic restoration of tooth shape
In cases where tooth damage is so extensive that the use of composite materials for restoration would not achieve a satisfactory cosmetic and functional result, we recommend the use of veneers or prosthetic crowns.
Licówki

The use of veneers allows for a perfect aesthetic effect with minimal interference with the hard tissues of the tooth.
One of the most effective cosmetic dentistry procedures, allowing for excellent aesthetic and functional results, is the use of porcelain veneers.
Veneers are thin, semi-transparent porcelain sheets with a thickness of 0.5 to 0.75 mm, which are attached by a specialist to the front surface of the tooth. Porcelain is highly durable and not susceptible to caries. It is an exceptionally strong, stain-resistant material which, when properly designed and modelled by specialists at the ARTIMEDICA Centre, perfectly resembles natural tooth enamel.
Thanks to veneers, we restore a natural, harmonious smile that stands the test of time – without any trace of dental treatment!
We particularly recommend veneers to patients who would like to:
- mask enamel cracks or permanent, whitening-resistant tooth discolouration (e.g. after antibiotics),
- mask extensive, unsightly fillings on the front surfaces of the front teeth,
- close excessive spaces between teeth (diastemas),
- rebuild broken (chipped) fragments of teeth,
- rebuild extensive enamel defects on front teeth (cervical defects),
- improve the appearance, shape and/or position of unsightly front teeth (erosion, discolouration, tooth wear),
- improve the appearance of teeth worn down by age by lengthening and brightening their crowns,
- correct developmental defects (conical teeth, enamel defects).
Advantages of using veneers:
- they allow for excellent aesthetic results with minimal interference with the hard tissues of the tooth,
- they retain their colour and shine for many years,
- they offer great possibilities for individual smile restoration,
- they are perfectly similar to natural teeth in terms of colour, shape and feel,
- guarantee high resistance to abrasion,
- are resistant to discolouration,
- their use guarantees improved patient well-being after treatment and a beautiful smile for many years.
Contraindications for this type of treatment include:
- parafunctional habits (bruxism, teeth clenching, harmful habits such as nail biting, pencil biting, etc.),
- teeth that are too short,
- gum and periodontal disease,
- high susceptibility to tooth decay,
- teeth with insufficient enamel quantity and quality.
Fullceramic crowns

The most durable solution in cosmetic dentistry, guaranteeing excellent aesthetic results, is the use of all-ceramic crowns.
Korony, to stałe uzupełnienia protetyczne w kształcie “czapeczki”, zastępujące naturalną koronę zęba.
- wysoką wytrzymałość i trwałość,
- idealne dopasowanie i szczelność,
- brak podrażnień tkanek i alergii (biokompatybilność),
- niskie przewodzenie ciepła.
Podbudowę korony pełnoceramicznej stanowi tlenek cyrkonu (jasny, przezierny materiał), dzięki któremu możliwe jest wyeliminowanie efektu przebarwień dziąseł bądź metalowych brzegów korony, często widocznych przy użyciu koron na podbudowie z metalu.
Replacing missing teeth
In order to “build” a beautiful smile and restore the aesthetic appearance of the face in accordance with the canons of beauty, it is necessary to fill in the gaps in the dentition.
The loss of one or more teeth initiates a process of changes leading to aesthetic and physical defects in the overall appearance of the face and impaired chewing function when eating.
Aesthetic defects:
- gaps in the teeth (gaps in the smile),
- “migration” (tilting and rotation) of adjacent teeth and “elongation” of opposing teeth seeking contact,
- defects resulting from bone loss in the area of missing teeth, causing the face to take on “ageing” features, such as:
- incomplete smile,
- shortening of the lower part of the face,
- sagging lips,
- formation of wrinkles around the mouth.
Functional defects:
- weakening of the remaining teeth, especially those adjacent to the gap in the dentition,
- impaired chewing function when eating food – resulting from tooth weakening,
- impaired speech function.

When a tooth or teeth are lost, a process of gradual bone tissue breakdown begins at the site of the gap in the dentition. This is a natural reaction of our body. Unnecessary and unused tissues undergo atrophy (wasting away).
Bone tissue breakdown v. possibility of implantation

If we do not stop the process of alveolar bone loss quickly enough, the aesthetic and functional consequences will become increasingly serious. At the same time, any implant surgery will become increasingly difficult and complicated.
With a full set of teeth, chewing forces are naturally and evenly transferred through the teeth to the jawbone, which supports them and acts as their “anchor”. When teeth are missing, the bone no longer fulfils its supporting function and the process of bone loss begins. The remaining teeth in the jaw become weaker and more susceptible to damage. This is because they have to take on much greater loads to compensate for the functions of the lost teeth, while at the same time losing the support of the adjacent teeth and weakening the alveolar process in which they are embedded.
Treatments to replace missing teeth
In cases where restoring a beautiful, full smile requires replacing missing teeth, we recommend:
- single crowns or bridges on implants,
- bridges based on adjacent teeth.
Aesthetic prosthetic restorations based on implants

The most modern and best method, in terms of aesthetics and functionality, for replacing missing teeth is to perform an implant procedure and fit all-ceramic crowns on the implants.
Thanks to this method:
- we achieve an excellent aesthetic effect – natural-looking teeth,
- we ensure complete physical and mental comfort for the patient,
- we avoid the need to grind adjacent teeth.
For more information on the implantation procedure and placing crowns on implants, see the Implant Prosthetics section.
Aesthetic prosthetic restorations based on adjacent teeth

An alternative to all-ceramic crowns or implant-supported bridges, but equally effective in terms of aesthetics, is the fabrication and placement of an all-ceramic bridge on adjacent teeth.
Such a bridge consists of prosthetic crowns fixed to adjacent teeth, which act as natural pillars. The crowns are connected to each other by spans, so that one or more crowns in the bridge are suspended over the gap in the dentition, hence the name – prosthetic bridge.
In order to make a prosthetic bridge, it is necessary to grind down the abutment teeth. These teeth must meet certain requirements in order to provide good support in the subsequent stages of the procedure.
For more information on prosthetic bridges, see the Prosthetics section.
The art of orthodontics in cosmetic dentistry
At the ARTIMEDICA Centre, the art of orthodontics goes beyond the norm. Our specialist orthodontist not only eliminates malocclusion, but also improves the overall appearance of the face.
According to the basic definition, orthodontics is a field of dentistry that deals with the prevention and treatment of malocclusion and maxillofacial defects.
The activities involved in designing a smile and the entire face by a cosmetic dentistry specialist should be considered in two categories:
- microaesthetics – includes individual procedures aimed at correcting the shape, proportions and alignment of individual teeth, as well as entire groups of teeth (arches),
- macroaesthetics – comprehensive measures aimed at improving the overall appearance of the face: modelling its contours, the position of the chin and lips, while maintaining overall symmetry and natural contours.
Patients at the ARTIMEDICA Centre can count on professional assistance from an orthodontist who will:
- discuss individual expectations in detail,
- will examine the patient’s needs in terms of facial aesthetics and smile (beyond the scope of standard dental treatment),
- will prepare a detailed treatment plan accordingly.
As mentioned at the outset, an effective and impressive image change also requires a comprehensive approach to the patient’s expectations and needs.
During orthodontic treatment, the orthodontist will entrust your smile to other ARTIMEDICI specialists in order to achieve the perfect final aesthetic result. The basic aesthetic procedures that complement orthodontic treatment include:
- modelling of the contact and facial surfaces of the teeth,
- gum modelling (plasty) – described in the next section of this study.
For more information on orthodontic treatment, see the Orthodontics section.
Gum plastic surgery
A beautiful smile is not only about beautiful, healthy teeth, but also the healthy and beautiful periodontal tissues surrounding them.
Periodontal plastic surgery is a series of procedures involving the appropriate modelling of gum tissue to give it an attractive appearance, including:
- elimination of a gummy smile,
- lengthening of the clinical crown of the tooth,
- recession coverage,
- frenectomy (frenulum cutting),
- gum and bone grafting.
For more information on periodontal treatment, see: Periodontology.
Teeth colour correction
A beautiful smile is our best calling card. White, shiny teeth are widely regarded as a symbol of health and beauty. They make us smile more often, which helps us establish relationships more easily and be perceived more favourably by those around us.
Naturally snow-white teeth are rare. For various reasons, most often due to external factors (frequent consumption of coffee and tea, smoking, etc.), teeth become covered with plaque and suffer from unsightly discolouration. Fortunately, this process is reversible or can be repaired!
ARTIMEDICI doctors will be happy to give your smile the shine you desire. Depending on the degree and causes of discolouration, we offer:
- Preventive treatments – cleaning the surface of the teeth (scaling and sandblasting) – these will remove plaque and discolouration from the surface of the teeth mechanically, using ultrasound and/or a stream of a special mixture of water and cleaning particles directed at the surface of the teeth under high pressure.
- Teeth whitening – the professional pharmaceutical materials used at the ARTIMEDICA Centre enable comprehensive lightening of tooth tissue and removal of discolouration from both the surface and interior of the teeth (more on whitening).
- Use of all-ceramic veneers – if preventive treatments and whitening do not produce a satisfactory aesthetic effect, we recommend the use of ceramic veneers. Veneers are the best solution in cosmetic dentistry, allowing for excellent aesthetic results with minimal interference with the hard tissues of the tooth (more on veneers).
For more information on periodontal treatment, see the Periodontology section.
Cosmetic dentistry and Dental Face Lift
We take a comprehensive approach to dentistry. Our priority is not only prevention and basic conservative or restorative treatment, but above all achieving the best aesthetic results in our work: improving the appearance of the smile and the overall appearance of the face.
The doctors at the ARTIMEDICA Centre specialise in cosmetic dentistry. Comprehensive aesthetic medicine procedures aimed at eliminating aesthetic defects and improving the smile and overall appearance of the face are often referred to as smile design or, as has recently become popular, “dental face lift” (according to the original English and American terminology – “Dental Face Lift”).
To design and “build” a beautiful smile for the patient:
- In the first step, we will be happy to meet with the patient to discuss their individual expectations.
- We will examine the patient’s needs in terms of both health and aesthetics, concerning their smile and the entire face.
- We will develop a comprehensive individual treatment plan and “design” the desired smile and facial appearance, in line with our principle of going beyond standard dental treatment.
- We will change the colour of your teeth through preventive treatments and/or teeth whitening.
- We will correct the position of your teeth during orthodontic treatment.
- We will take care of removing any imperfections through plastic periodontal surgery and aesthetic medicine treatments.
Effective change requires a comprehensive approach to the patient’s expectations and needs, and above all, the knowledge and experience of the medical team.
We invite you to meet with a doctor from the ARTIMEDICA Centre, who will be happy to answer all your questions and clarify any doubts you may have.
We respect your time and strive to meet your needs.
We look forward to seeing you at our Centre in Wrocław.
